Detroit Tigers players will look to continue the team’s winning ways when they travel to Kansas City on Friday to take on the Royals. Anibal Sanchez will take the mound for the Tigers opposite Danny Duffy.

Detroit Tigers infielder and outfielder JaCoby Jones has made a significant impact since joining the team. In two games with the club, the top prospect has collected three doubles, three runs scored and a pair of RBI in just eight at-bats.

In both contests he’s played, the former Pittsburgh farmhand has provided the spark for the Tigers.

Jones and the rest of his teammates will look to keep the momentum going on Friday against Kansas City’s best starting pitcher, Danny Duffy.

Duffy is 11-2 with a 3.01 ERA and 149 strikeouts in 143.2 innings pitched.

However, despite the strong numbers, some Tigers batters have found success against the 27-year-old.

Victor Martinez is a career .323 hitter in 33 plate appearances versus Duffy, while Ian Kinsler has a pair of home runs. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Duffy have squared off four times. The Detroit catchers is two-for-three with a walk and two home runs.

Facing Duffy and the Royals is veteran starter Anibal Sanchez. The former Marlin struggled in the first half, but has bounced back in the second half. Sanchez pitched to a 4.30 ERA in the month of August after struggling earlier in the season. During the same span, he held batters to a .284 on-base percentage and a ,241 batting average.
