Detroit Tigers baseball is officially back. With Grapefruit League action underway, Detroit has already played 16 contests, and will compete in eight (including two split-squad games) in the next week.

Detroit Tigers fans haven’t had too many opportunities to see the team on television so far in Spring Training.

Sunday’s game was broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit and saw the franchise come away with a 4-3 victory against the New York Mets at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida.

J.D. Martinez went hard in the contest, while also collecting a double. Jose Iglesias and Omar Infante also plated runs, with Infante accounting for half of the team’s RBI.

Elsewhere, Mike Gerber and Dominic Ficociello crossed home plate for Brad Ausmus and company. Ficociello continued his strong spring by also adding a pair of walks.

On the pitching side of things, Michael Fulmer started and allowed just three hits and two runs in 2.1 frames.

The reigning American League Rookie of the Year also struck out four batters.

Ruben Alaniz continued to pitch well, recording a pair of outs.

Mike Pelfrey, Mark Lowe and Sandy Baez also turned in scoreless appearances, as the trio combined for five shutout innings.
