Detroit Tigers baseball returns on Tuesday afternoon as Spring Training continues. Per a tweet from Detroit’s official Twitter account, we know what the team’s lineup will look like for Tuesday’s contest.
Detroit Tigers players will see more Grapefruit League action on Tuesday, as the club plays host to the Miami Marlins.
The Tigers are coming off yet another Spring Training tie, as they finished even with the Washington Nationals following 10 innings.
Overall, the pitching was sharp for Detroit in the 3-3 contest.
Justin Verlander looked strong in 4.2 frames, allowing just one hit and a walk. The longtime Tiger also added four strikeouts as he continues to prepare for the regular season.
Elsewhere, Blaine Hardy and Shane Greene both posted zeroes.
The two relievers entered the game after Verlander and combined to allow just a pair of hits and a walk in 2.1 innings of work.
Hardy and Greene were followed by Myles Jaye, who unfortunately was the only Detroit pitcher to struggle on the day.
Jaye was tagged for four hits and three runs while failing to record an out.

Offense
On the offensive side of things, J.D. Martinez continued his spring resurgence. After a slow start, the outfielder is playing well as of late.
Martinez hit his second home run in as many days on Tuesday, taking Stephen Strasburg deep in the fourth inning. Tyler Collins also left the yard for Detroit.
Elsewhere, Jose Iglesias registered a sacrifice fly as the Tigers were able to empty the team’s bench and give at-bats to a number of bench players.
Dixon Machado, Kody Eaves, JaCoby Jones, Steven Moya, Mike Gerber, Juan Perez, John Hicks, Dominic Ficociello and Joey Pankake all got into the game for Detroit.

Additionally, Matt Boyd will start for the Detroit Tigers.
The Washington native has looked solid so far in Spring Training and could claim the final place in Detroit’s rotation.
Boyd owns a 7.75 ERA in 6.2 innings, but much of that was due to one poor outing against Tampa Bay when the pitcher was tagged four six hits and four runs in 1.2 innings.
Take that outing away, and the former Blue Jays farmhand has allowed just five hits and a run in five innings while striking out six.

The situation will certainly be worth monitoring moving forward in Grapefruit League play as Anibal Sanchez and Mike Pelfrey have struggled at times.
