On the pitching side of things, Justin Verlander allowed six hits, five walks and two runs in seven innings. Verlander also struck out six, racking up 111 pitches on the night.

Francisco Rodriguez would go onto blow the lead, giving up a solo home run to Steven Souza Jr. in the eight to tie the game at three.

However, after a scoreless ninth inning that saw Justin Wilson strike out two, Detroit won the game in the bottom of the ninth on Cabrera’s two-run shot.
