Detroit Tigers baseball returns on Wednesday as the team wraps up a three-game series in the Bronx against the New York Yankees. Here’s what you need to know to watch.

Detroit Tigers players will look to win a second series in a row on Wednesday as they play in a rubber match with the Yankees.

After New York claimed the opener, Detroit rebounded with a 4-3 victory on Tuesday night.

John Hicks and Justin Upton both left the ballpark with home runs off Yankees’ starter CC Sabathia.

Hicks’ shot was of the three-run variety in the second, while Upton blasted a solo shot off the veteran starter in the third.

That would prove to be all the offense Detroit would need as Anibal Sanchez allowed just two runs in 6.2 innings.

The veteran hurler also scattered just six hits, a walk and a home run against New York while striking out three.

From there, Bruce Rondon finished out the seventh, while Alex Wilson go the first out in the eighth. Wilson was tagged for an unearned run as he also allowed a hit.

Daniel Stumpf gave up a hit without recording an out before making way for new closer Shane Greene.

Greene worked a five-out save to close things out, walking two and striking out one. It was a promising debut for Detroit’s new closer following the trade of Justin Wilson to the Chicago Cubs.
