Detroit Tigers baseball returns Thursday as the team wraps up a home series against the New York Yankees. Here’s what you need to know to watch the game.

Detroit Tigers players will look to salvage a series against the New York Yankees with a win on Thursday.

The team dropped the first two games of the three-game set against the American League East franchise on Wednesday by a final score of 10-2.

It was another offensive struggle for the Tigers, who managed just two runs on nine hits and a walk.

Detroit struck out 13 times on the day, while leaving nine men on base.

Left fielder Justin Upton and shortstop Jose Iglesias both collected two hits, while second baseman Ian Kinsler and Iglesias went yard with home runs in the sixth and ninth innings respectively.

However, both home runs were too little, too late, as the Yankees had jumped out to an 8-0 lead by the time the bottom of the sixth inning rolled around.

On the pitching side of things, Jordan Zimmermann suffered his 11th loss of the season, allowing nine hits, seven earned runs, two home runs and a walk in five innings.

He didn’t strike out any as his ERA moved to 6.11 on the campaign.

Chad Bell came on in relief for the veteran and threw four innings of his own.

While the left-hander struck out six, he was also tagged for five hits, three runs, two earned runs, two walks and a home run.
