Detroit Tigers: Spring training opener vs Florida Southern

The Detroit Tigers first game of spring training is today as the team goes against Florida Southern. The Tigers matchup against Florida Southern is one of the longest-running matchups currently in spring training.

Here’s today’s lineup for spring training:

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM today. You can find all the TV and Radio information on the game over at the Detroit Free Press.

Alex Wilson is set to start on the mound as he auditions for a chance to be in the starting rotation. Gardy has also released his starting lineup this spring with Daniel Norris and Mike Fiers both getting opportunities on the mound.

Gardenhire is also giving LHP Ryan Carpenter a chance to showcase his skills as a starter.  The Detroit Tigers have plenty of pitching prospects, and they hope to lead the way through the rebuild writes Evan Woodbery.

One way to fix part of those bullpen problems? Adding Mauricio Cabrera according to Andy Patton. Tigers pitcher Buck Farmer could be the dark horse in the fifth man spot. His name hasn’t been thrown around much in that competition but he has solid numbers with the Toledo Mudhens.

With Nicholas Castellanos making the move to the outfield, it’s unlikely that’ll be ever playing third again for the Tigers.
