The Detroit Tigers continue spring training with a matchup today against the Yankees. The matchup is the first against since the brawl last season. Miguel Cabrera is in the lineup today against the Yankees. Miggy being hit by a pitch was the straw that broke the camels back last August when the benches cleared.

You can watch the game today on FSD or listen via 97.1 the Ticket. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM.  The Detroit Free Press will have all the details for following the Tigers each game this spring.

The Tigers faced off against Florida Southern yesterday and if you happened to watch the game yesterday you would’ve noticed something. Behind the plate, featured a woman as the umpire. No woman has ever been an umpire in a regular-season MLB game. Jen Pawol called the experience unbelievable, according to the Detroit News.

Also in yesterday’s matchup, Alex Wilson had the chance to audition for a starting role. His spring debut was strong, striking out five batters in two scoreless innings of work. Buck Farmer is also auditioning for a role in the starting rotation. He’d be happy with bullpen work in the majors, but he might find himself spending his fifth consecutive season with the Toledo Mud Hens.
