The Detroit Tigers pitching staff was blasted in the Tigers loss to the Rays yesterday. Skipper Ron Gardenhire wasn’t happy as he called the pitchers ‘lazy’. He also said that was unacceptable. With Jordan Zimmerman getting the opening day start Bless You Boys argues that Ron Gardenhire is as old school as we thought.

Chris Archer had no problem with pitching a strong outing as the Tigers fell 10-5. He only gave up two hits in 5.1 innings of work.

Zimmerman was asked his opinion about getting the nod to start on opening day. He answered that he was shocked he was starting. He also thought that Michael Fulmer probably deserved to get the start instead. Michael Fulmer meanwhile took the news in stride.

Mike Fiers has been struggling throughout spring training. Reportedly his struggles have stemmed from back stiffness.
