The Detroit Tigers are starting the second half of the season with the All-Star break over. Anthony Fenech, of the Detroit Free Press, graded the first half of the Tigers season. As you’d expect, he gave the first half of the season a less than stellar grade. We provided our midseason awards just before the break, which can be read here. Over at MLive.com, beat writer Evan Woodberry has eight bold predictions for the second half of the Tigers season. Somehow, losing less than one hundred games has become “bold”.
Over at the Athletic, Max Bultman caught up with Tigers catching prospect Jake Rogers. Rogers has been working with the top pitching prospects in the Tigers farm system. Also at the Athletic, Emily Waldon has ranked the the top twenty prospects for the Tigers at the All-Star Break. You can read 11-20 here and 1-10 here. With the trade deadline approaching our own Andy Patton thinks that the Tigers should trade Blaine Hardy to the Braves. We also discussed Nicholas Castellanos trade scenarios. The Tigers first series for the second half of the season is against the Boston Red Sox. Which means that J.D. Martinez returns to the Motor City. According to Anthony Fenech, the Tigers are Martinez’s home team.
