If Tigers fans had to guess, we'd be pretty confident in predicting that, if Scott Harris makes any huge moves this offseason, the players are more likely to come from the free agent market than the trade market. He'll probably still make a few trades, but the front office's existing logic suggests that they'll be smaller or supplementary. We all know about how Harris feels about his prospects.

However, if he does take a leap of faith this offseason? There are a few potential targets who, if the Tigers got them, would shock fans. Can somebody shock us? We'd love to be shocked!

3 Tigers trades that would break the internet if Scott Harris pulled them off

Joe Ryan, Twins

Red Sox fans are still begging their front office to go after Joe Ryan after Yahoo Sports incorrectly reported that Boston had pulled off a trade, but they certainly won't be the only ones gunning for him this offseason.

Ryan was one of the only survivors of the Twins' deadline fire sale, which the Tigers themselves capitalized on (sort of) when they traded for Chris Paddack. With how much the Twins are likely to ask for Ryan and how loathe Harris is to give up top prospects (maybe especially to a division rival), Harris might not be willing to bite, but his 171 innings pitched and 3.42 ERA season would make him the perfect No. 2 starter to put behind Tarik Skubal.

Jo Adell, Angels

Adell has already been named one of the top trade targets of the offseason, and for good reason. He had a 37-homer, 98-RBI season and would be a massive offensive upgrade from Parker Meadows in center field.

There are cons, of course. He would be a massive defensive downgrade from Meadows and had the same chase and whiff problems that the Tigers were plagued with during their late slide and the postseason. But he was an excellent bottom-half bat and had a .283 average and .814 OPS in high-leverage moments. This one could break the internet for different reasons: outrage at first, and then possible appreciation down the road.

Bryce Harper, Phillies

This one definitely won't happen, but it'd be fun to dream, right?

Former Tigers GM, now Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, landed himself in hot water when he wondered aloud if Harper could ever be elite again, which immediately kicked up trade rumors. Harper expressed sadness and annoyance at even the vague possibility of being traded, which had Dombrowski walking back his comments.

Even if he was on the block, there's no way that the Tigers would want to take on the rest of Harper's 13-year, $330 million contract (which still has six years and around $165.24 million on it), but no one would complain about a star of Harper's caliber coming to Detroit. That could potentially change their outlook in a manner that hasn't been considered in over a decade.
