As the injury bug continues to make its way through Detroit Tigers spring training, a new name showed up in the team's medical update this week.
Outfielder Parker Meadows, who had complained of right bicep discomfort during the Tigers' first spring training game Saturday, took a couple days off from baseball activities to allow the soreness to calm down.
The 25-year-old underwent further testing on Monday, and the club announced Tuesday that he is dealing with "right upper arm inflammation" for which he is being treated daily. He will be reevaluated later in the week to see if he can resume baseball activities.

Meadows, who missed about a month of the 2024 season due to a right hamstring strain, has spent the past two seasons bouncing between Detroit and Triple-A Toledo. Through 119 career Major League games, Meadows is batting .241 with 12 home runs, 16 doubles, eight triples, 41 RBI, 17 stolen bases and a .729 OPS.
On one hand, Meadows' diagnosis is a positive one, as the testing did not reveal any structural damage to his arm that could keep him out long term. On the other hand, the Tigers may be operating out of an abundance of caution with Meadows, who is expected to take on a much larger role as Detroit's everyday center fielder in 2025.
In addition to the report on Meadows, Tuesday's Tigers medical update included the latest on the rest of Detroit's injured players. Outfielder Akil Baddoo – who underwent surgery last week for a fractured right hand – is "completing rehab daily," as is pitcher Wilmer Flores, who is dealing with right shoulder inflammation.
Javier Báez, who underwent season-ending surgery on his right hip last year, is participating in camp activities and scheduled to complete a base-running session on Wednesday. Offseason free agent signing Alex Cobb, who is expected to miss the start of the 2025 season with hip inflammation, received an epidural injection this week and is scheduled to play catch on Wednesday.
Hopefully this is the last extensive injury update Tigers fans have to read through for a while.
