Detroit Tigers DH Kerry Carpenter hit not one, not two, but three two-run homers in Monday's 13-1 rout of the Chicago White Sox. In addition to putting the Tigers up 10-0, he also made some history in the process.

Carpenter's three-homer performance was the first by a Tigers player since Victor Martinez accomplished the feat on June 16, 2016. As noted by the Tigers' PR team on X, there have now been 25 instances of a Detroit player hitting three home runs in a single game. Cecil Fielder did it three times, while Miguel Cabrera, Bobby Higginson and Rocky Colavito each did it twice.

Carpenter also appeared to be on the verge of tying an MLB single-game record with a fourth home run in the eighth inning against the White Sox, but he hit a 330-foot fly out to center fielder Luis Robert Jr. instead.

The Tigers, of course, went on to win the game by a final score of 13-1, improving to 40-21 on the season. They also became the first team to reach the 40-win mark in 2025, in addition to boosting their run differential to plus-98.

Kerry Carpenter's three-home run explosion highlights big win for Tigers

Carpenter's big night at the plate was a sight for sore eyes, as the 27-year-old slugger had seen his OPS fall below .800 in his previous three games. On the season, he is now batting .276 with an .822 OPS and 13 home runs.

In addition to Carpenter, Dillon Dingler and Wenceel Pérez each contributed to the offensive onslaught with one home run apiece. The Tigers ended up with 16 hits and four walks to go along with 13 runs against the White Sox. Zach McKinstry was the only Detroit starter not to record a hit, though he did reach base on a walk.

Add in the six innings of one-run baseball from Jack Flaherty and the triumphant return of Parker Meadows, and Monday was easily one of the Tigers' most electrifying wins in a season in which they currently own the best record in baseball.
