Detroit Tigers reach extension with manager A.J. Hinch.

It's a great day for the Detroit Tigers as some good news has come from Winter Meetings. Tigers President of Baseball Operations, Scott Harris, noted that the team has reached an agreement with manager A.J. Hinch.

The Detroit Tigers have extended their manager on a long-term extension. The Tigers did not announce how long the extension will be, failing to disclose any of the terms, but it will be for several years, keeping Hinch around.

Harris noted that the Tigers will have Hinch "for a long time," even though the exact number of years is not disclosed. The Tigers have had Hinch as their skipper for the last three seasons. He's managed Detroit to a 221-265 record during his time in the Motor City the last three seasons.

It's great news to hear that Hinch will be with the Tigers for the long term. He will continue to be a massive piece of the puzzle, working with the players and the front office to ensure that the team can continue to try and move in the right direction.

When the Tigers had brought in Scott Harris, and there was room to add a General Manager (GM), there were rumors that A.J. Hinch may leave his post as the manager to make a move to the front office. But, he opted to stay in the dugout, continuing to work to bring this Tigers team over the hump.

Hinch is very vocal with both the players as well as the media. He tells it like it is and has done many good things for this organization. While he was "inherited" by Harris and company after Al Avila's departure, Harris has bought into what Harris is doing and obviously wanted to reflect that by locking him up as the skipper of this team.

When the Tigers hired Hinch, it was viewed as a steal for Detroit, and it should still feel that way, especially since he'll be remaining with Detroit for the long haul. He's helped the Tigers in multiple ways, being a tremendous manager for Detroit. The good news is that Detroit will have Hinch around for quite some time.

Detroit's rolling the dice with Hinch and will be this team's bench boss for years to come, hopefully seeing things through to the other side, as he has mentioned he wants to do. He's said it over the years, and it's slated to happen now after the recent extension.

With the extension of Hinch, the Tigers coaching staff is also set to go for the 2024 season, as announced with this move.
