When will the Detroit Tigers make some trades?
We are now less than one week away from the Aug. 1 trade deadline. Things have been pretty quiet on the trade front for the Detroit Tigers. Rumors have been few and far between. The market overall has been pretty quiet.
Part of this is likely because prices are high. MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports starting pitcher prices in particular are high because so many teams are looking for help. That's good news for a team like the Tigers, who have some pitching to deal with the likes of Eduardo Rodriguez, Michael Lorenzen, and Jose Cisnero.
That could cause things to be pretty slow until deadline day. We may see a ton of last-minute deals.
Of course, this is just based on history. The trade deadline can be incredibly unpredictable. Who knows? Things could pick up dramatically over the next few days.
Right now, the only real thing we know about around the league is that the Rays and White Sox are in active talks surrounding White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn. A deal could easily be done by the time this article goes live. Maybe that will be the trade that kicks things off. Again, who knows?
For the Tigers, I wouldn't expect anything concrete to go down until closer to deadline day, perhaps even on the day itself. This deadline season just has the vibe that things are going to drag out until the day of.
We might just have to be patient. Of course, if something does happen, we'll be here to break it all down.
