Fans attending Detroit Tigers home games – or watching them on TV, for that matter – will notice that their view of the outfield looks a little bit different this season.
Gone is the large, black and orange striped "Tigers" script signage that took up prime real estate atop the left field scoreboard. To the chagrin of many Tigers fans, it has been replaced with corporate signage that reads "Comerica Park" in sterile, white lettering.
Tigers fans up in arms over significant signage change at Comerica Park for 2025
While replacing the script "Tigers" with corporate signage feels like a sellout move, it was probably an inevitable one. "Comerica Park" used to be spelled out on the scoreboard – above the video board and below the "Tigers" sign – until last season, when the Tigers unveiled a new, 15,000 square foot video board that took up the space where the corporate signage used to be. The club was going to have to make up for that somehow.
The Tigers removing the fun Tigers sign and replacing it with a boring Comerica Park sign is blasphemous

According to Tony Paul of The Detroit News, Comerica Bank paid $66 million for 30 years of naming rights for the ballpark back in 1998 (two years before it officially opened). That naming rights agreement has reportedly since been extended to run through at least 2034.
Admittedly, it is customary for Major League ballparks to display the ballpark's name above the outfield video board; but an all-white "Comerica Park" is far less fun and aesthetically pleasing than the "Tigers" script. At least the Tiger statues on either side of the signage aren't going anywhere (for now, anyway).
The signage swap is one of several changes that have been made to Comerica Park in recent years, including upgrades to the video board, sound system and lighting. According to Paul, the club has also upgraded the team plane, locker rooms, weight rooms and and dining facilities.
The Tigers will also unveil new, luxury box seats behind home plate at this season's home opener on April 4, as well as an exclusive "Home Plate Club" that is still under construction and will be completed at some point during the 2025 season.
Change, it's inevitable.
