Updated, 8:04 PM EST: It's lower leg discomfort for Torres. Further evaluations are required.
The 2025 Detroit Tigers are the third team in franchise history to record 32 or more victories in their first 50 games of the season, sprinting past that line of demarcation at 33-17. One of the engines of that success has been Gleyber Torres, perhaps the biggest year-over-year addition to last year's surprise playoff team.
Losing Torres for any length of time - after he already went down earlier in the season in late March with an oblique issue - would put a dent in their momentum. After an early exit Thursday, his availability is now very much in doubt.
Torres ended the bottom of the third inning against the Guardians with a fairly boilerplate lineout to center, but vacated the game between innings, replaced by '24 playoff hero and supersub Andy Ibañez.
Further updates on Torres' status are to come, but he was spotted limping rather significantly on his way out of the contest. According to MLB.com's Jason Beck, Torres reported lower leg discomfort to the team.
Gleyber Torres is out of the game. Andy Ibanez in to play second base. Torres lined out to CF to end the third. Didn't see anything weird

Tigers' Gleyber Torres leaves Thursday game vs. Guardians with injury after lineout in third inning
After what was mostly a down final year with the Yankees, Torres regained his momentum out of the leadoff spot in New York's order from August through the end of the season. In a return to his early Yankees years, Torres leveled up further in the postseason, hitting .364 in the Yankees' five-game ALCS triumph over Cleveland.
He started his Tigers career by building on that same momentum, hitting .281 with five homers and a 126 OPS+ entering Thursday's action. Clearly, the beard has worked to his advantage, helping Detroit cover up some of their initial fears about losing out on Alex Bregman. Powered by Torres, the Tigers became the first American League team to 30 wins, holding onto the best record in the league. Against the odds, they now hold a 5.5-game lead above the second-place Minnesota Twins/Kansas City Royals.
Torres didn't start Wednesday's series finale in St. Louis, which seemed like an insignificant detail at the time. Now, after an abrupt exit in the succeeding game, Tigers fans are on high alert for any tangible updates on his status.
