Mariners’ Greg Halman Is Killed

Dutch police are reporting that Seattle Mariners’ outfielder Greg Halman has been stabbed to death in Rotterdam. Halman, who was 24, is originally from the Netherlands, and got a taste of big league action this past summer with Seattle. An athletically gifted player, Halman hit .230 with Seattle this summer and stole 5 out of 6 bases in 90 at-bats.

The announcement of Halman’s death comes just a couple of weeks after the kidnapping of the Washington Nationals’ Wilson Ramos. Ramos thankfully was rescued by the police.

Hopefully this is the last bit of tragic news we hear about baseball players for quite some time, and much like Nick Adenhart, I wish we all could have seen what Greg Halman could do on a baseball field.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Greg Halman and the Seattle organization.
