Detroit Tigers projected to draft Wyatt Langford with third overall pick.

The Detroit Tigers are still a ways away from draft day, and there's time for plenty to change before the Pittsburgh Pirates go on the clock with the first overall pick. That means the mock drafts are going to continue to flow in.

Following up on a "scouts play GM" mock draft from a couple of weeks ago, Perfect Game USA released another edition of their Mock Draft with two of their draft experts forecasting how things will turn out, and the Detroit Tigers were projected to grab a collegiate bat.

The Tigers were cast to select collegiate outfielder Wyatt Langford with the third overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. Perfect Game had Dylan Crews and Paul Skenes off the board before him, leaving the Tigers with their pick of the litter.

The initial projections with the scout who drafted for Detroit before was taking prep bat Maxwell Clark from Franklin HS in Indiana. But, this time around, the Tigers ended up with Gators outfielder Wyatt Langford to boost their lineup significantly.

Here's how their mock draft looks the rest of the way via twitter.

When it comes to reasoning and more of an analysis of why each of these players was selected, visit the Mock Draft article here. It also covers the second pick that was forecasted for the Detroit Tigers, LuJames Groover III from North Carolina State University.

But, when it comes to Langford, it's clear-cut that he is an absolute force. He's been one of the players the Tigers needed to be considering for a while and has really put an exclamation point on why he's one of the best names at the top of the class.

Langford has hit .374/.527/.740 with 12 doubles, three triples, and nine home runs while managing 23 RBI for the Gators offense over 123 at-bats. Not to mention his 37 walks to just 21 punchouts on the 2023 campaign as part of Florida's offense.

The Tigers really need to give it some thought when it comes to Langford. He may be who was projected in the latest mock draft, but as was touched on earlier, things could very well change aplenty before the draft begins.

If Perfect Game is right, with Crews and Skenes going 1 and 2, it has to be Langford to Detroit. He has tools that will immediately jump into the Tigers system and quickly rise up the team's prospect rankings. Even though the rankings can be a little misleading, Langford would have tools that carry him to the top of the organization quickly.

The Tigers have plenty of time to cross their T's and dot their I's before draft day comes around, but with another mock draft in the books, it's another name for the Tigers to keep in mind.
