Detroit Tigers Spring Training Report Date, Location & Other Important Dates to Know
Pitchers and catchers report: Wednesday, Feb. 12
Tarik Skubal, Jack Flaherty, and Co. will be the first to arrive in Lakeland on Feb. 12. There's an important roster battle to watch between Casey Mize, Jackson Jobe, and Kenta Maeda for the last spot in the rotation, but our money is on Jobe, the No. 2 pitching prospect in baseball behind Roki Sasaki.
First full-squad workout: Monday, Feb. 17
The rest of the Tigers squad, including a handful of non-roster invitees (yet to be announced), report the Monday after pitchers and catchers. Top prospects Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle, Thayron Liranzo, and Josue Briceño should be names to watch out for.
First spring training game: Saturday, Feb. 22 vs Philadelphia Phillies
Tigers Grapefruit League games officially kick off on Feb. 22 with an afternoon home game against the Phillies and extend to March 25, when spring training ends with a two-game set against the Giants at Oracle Park, the Tigers' first stop on a West Coast road trip to open the season.
Opening Day: Thursday, March 27 at Los Angeles Dodgers
The Tigers will take on the reigning World Series champions at Dodger Stadium for a three-game series beginning on March 27, after the Dodgers have officially opened their season in Tokyo against the Cubs. The Tigers will also stop in Seattle for three games against the Mariners before heading back to Comerica.
Home opener: Friday, April 4 vs Chicago White Sox
When the Tigers finally get back to Detroit, they'll have a six-game homestand — first against the White Sox, then the Yankees — before hitting the road again.
