Forbes Values Detroit Tigers at $385 Million

Well Tigers fans, let’s hope the final standings make the Tigers look a lot better than the organization’s valuation according to Forbes. $385 million is a lot of money but it places the Tigers as the 21st most valuable MLB franchise.

The Tigers had seen modest operating profits until three years ago when a jump sent operating income plummeting. Mike Ilitch hasn’t appeared bothered by losing money, perhaps his $1.7 billion net worth and the fact he bought the team for “just” $82 million in 1992 has something to do with that.
